We had a great time listening to and Worshiping with Michael Combs. He makes me forget I’m a Baptist and I (almost) shout. Amen!
I was talking to church members before it began and they had no idea who Michael Combs was. They know now!

Very small church, but Kingsmen’s sound man Brandon did a great job of balancing the sound. Friendly church invited us to join them after concert for hot dogs and sandwiches in fellowship hall.
It was the first time we heard the Kingsmen Quartet, great harmony, top of our list. Ray Dean Reese is as good as he was 20 years ago.

This was our first time at The Georgia Mountain Center. Parking was fair. The facility was nice, clean, well kept. Not great acoustics. Unfortunately, it doesn’t make any difference because on Dec. 15, 2012, Brenau College is leasing the entire center. The 2,500-seat arena will no longer be available for rent. Thanks for nothing Gainesville City Council!
We were joined at this event by my oldest daughter, Brandy, and 3½ year old grandson, Mik, who enjoys everything he does with Pop-Pop and Heather.
It is a small country church with friendly people. It nice to be in a true Southern Baptist Church. We sang from hymnals, they have RA’s, GA’s, and Acteens.
The Sammy Glass Family was good, the son sounds like Randy Travis. My only comment is Sammy, the dad, needs to leave the sound board alone. It was disruptive having him go adjust the sound board several times during every song.
We’ve been to this church before. They have friendly, outgoing people, nice auditorium, good acoustics. Of course I sat in exact same pew from March that isn’t bolted down and I almost knocked it over (again).
It’s been years since we listened to and worshiped with Greater Vision. I had forgotten how powerful their songs are and what a great group they are! We’re looking forward to spending New Year’s Eve ‘eve’ with them in Valdosta at Morningside Baptist.
Well, they started with a ‘sermonette’ from the pastor. Heather sat as close to me as possible because he scared her. He does, you know, one of these ‘singing-type’ of preaching like some black churches we’ve been to do. Anyway, combined with that and the congregation hollering and everybody praying out loud at the same time, Heather was scared. I wasn’t comfortable. One more thing, the men’s restroom had mounted deer heads and antlers on the wall. Yes it was a church.
Then, Mike Bowling wasn’t there, he wasn’t feeling well so he stayed in the bus. A local filled in. Enough said.
Then, the sound was SO loud for a small church, we walked out during the 2nd song. Never again for that church or The Bowlings. They owe me for gas for driving over a hundred miles round trip!
The National Quartet Convention announced this morning that next year’s convention in Louisville will be the final there. Starting in 2014, the event will move to Pigeon Forge.
“In September of 2014, the National Quartet Convention will begin a new and exciting era as Gospel Music’s Largest Annual Event moves to one of America’s most popular, family-friendly vacation destinations… Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.”
I am NOT a Bluegrass Gospel fan, but this family is good and the kids are ”so” talented and cute that I enjoy hearing them. The kids did a great ‘Guitarzan’ skit (remember Ray Steven’s Guitarzan ) complete with authentic costumes. We will go see them again if they are close by.
This is Billy Hudson’s, from the Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee, Annual Labor Day Sing in Thomasville. Besides a great concert, we get to eat at The Seminole Wind buffet. The food is great and the owner is proud to display his Christian beliefs predominately.
