The Williamsons at First Freewill Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia

We had never heard them before. We’re glad these Yankee (Oklahoma, I guess that’s not really yankee) Southern Gospel groups come our way every now & then. We certainly would go hear them again.

The Pine Ridge Boys at Pine Park Baptist Church in Cairo, Georgia

The Pine Ridge Boys are a traditional Southern Gospel quartet from Inman, SC. This was our 1st time seeing them. They were very personable with the audience. We will absolutely go hear them again.

The Proclaimers Quartet at Providence Baptist in Whigham, Georgia

This was a traditional Southern Gospel quartet. Great sound. I wish more quartets would stick to their roots. We would definitely go see them again.

The Freedom Quartet and the Dixie Echoes at the Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee, Florida

  • The Lighthouse Children’s Home girls led off with several songs as always. They have many new girls that are still looking for their sound, but they are always inspirational.

  • This was the 1st time we’ve seen the Freedom Quartet. Burman Porter (on the far right), is without a doubt, still the best bass in all of Southern Gospel music. When he hits the low notes, your insides literally vibrate. We were also pleased to hear John Rulapaugh. We will absolutely go to see these guys again.

Freedom Q

  • The Dixie Echoes have a new tenor and bass since we saw them last, but still have a good sound. We’re sorry to hear Scoot is leaving after the NQC.

Roger Fortner Steps Down From The McKameys

The McKameys have announced that after 28 years of traveling with the group, Roger Fortner will be coming off the road to return to the studio.
Roger gave this statement, “I’ve spent 28 years with the McKameys and now I feel I need to move on to do what I have always enjoyed doing, which is studio production. I ask that you support the McKameys in all they do. There’s not another group like them.”
Although Roger will no longer be on stage with the McKameys, for now he will continue maintaining their website. We ask for your prayers as we make this transition.

Punches Family and The Plath Family Band at the Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee

The Lighthouse Children’s Home girls led off with several songs and testimonies as always. They have many new girls that are still learning the songs, but they are always inspirational.

The Plath Family Band is a mother and father with 9 kids. They were cute and were great instrumentalists. We would go see them again.

The Punches Family are a Bluegrass group. I don’t like Bluegrass, but girls were so cute, I enjoyed them. The girls are 14 now and have lost their cuteness. The oldest son doesn’t sing with them anymore and Bobette has retired her upright string bass in lieu of a bass guitar. They’re just not the same.
