Squire Parsons at The Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee, Florida

We have heard some recoding of his that were good. He really needs a group behind him. His songs are all sound the same. He will go the bottom of our list.

Greater Vision and Victory Song at The Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee, Florida

  • Lighthouse Girls – led off as always. They are always inspirational.
  • Greater Vision – were great.
  • Victory Song – is a local area ‘twangy’  group. It a strange group to be paired with a professional group like Greater Vision.

Dixie Melody Boys, Michael Combs, and Charles Johnson and The Revivers at Hoofers Gospel Barn in LaGrange, Georgia

They were all good, but a ‘spirit filled’ man diagonal from us about 15 feet away kept jumping up and dancing around with his eyes closed crashing into chairs. He obviously was embarrassing his wife (or girlfriend or whatever) and scaring his young children. I would  have to stand up by Heather and Miss Cindy to prepare to ‘block’ him, as did other men around us. He didn’t totally ruin the concert, but he certainly detracted from our enjoyment!

Dove Brothers, McKameys, and New Tradition at Thomasville, Georgia City Auditorium

This was Billy Hudson’s Annual Labor Day Sing in Thomasville.

  • Dove Brothers Quartet – They were great. as always.
  • The McKameys – They are certainly growing on us.
  • New Tradition – I have nothing against them. I’m sure they’re good, but I don’t like Bluegrass!

The Perrys and Mark Trammell Trio at The Lighthouse Children’s Home in Tallahassee, Florida

The Lighthouse sang a few numbers. I don’t know how they can keep such a consistent good sound with all the turnover, girls leaving, new girls coming in, but they do.

  • Mark Trammel Trio – This is first time we’ve heard the trio. We’ve heard Mark do solo concerts. A trio is headed the right direction.
  • Perrys– They have a great sound and message, although Tracy didn’t seem to be feeling well, but his singing didn’t reflect it.

Michael Combs and Charles Johnson and The Revivers at Hoofers Gospel Barn in LaGrange, Georgia

This was our visit to Hoofers. We’ve heard about it for years. It seats about 1100 with 20 rocking chair seats on both sides of the stage. We had reserved the 1st row of rocking chairs and loved the seats and location. Heather rocked nonstop through the entire event. There was a restaurant with a seafood buffet in the same building. There was also an elaborate snack bar at the back entrance.

  • Michael Combs – We’ve wanted to see him for years. We were not disappointed! Heather really enjoyed him coming down into the audience as he was singing.
  • Charles Johnson and The Revivers – I had wanted to see them for about 20 years since I first heard “I can’t even walk without you holding my hand”. I was not disappointed!
